Flat rate, built for classes

The Setmore Alternative for class-based studios

Setmore is a well-established 1:1 appointment scheduler, priced per user. easybook.studio is built for what a studio actually runs — group classes with capacity and waitlists, course series, class passes and memberships — at a flat rate from €2.50/month (early adopter, regular €10), with every teacher included.

Quick answer

Is easybook.studio a good Setmore alternative?

Yes, if you run group classes. Setmore is a general-purpose 1:1 appointment scheduler priced per user; easybook.studio is built for class-based studios, with group classes and capacity limits, waitlists that auto-promote, recurring course series and terms, class passes, credit packs and memberships. It is a flat rate from €2.50/month (early adopter, regularly €10) including 10 team members on Basic, with no booking fees or commission — only standard Stripe or PayPal fees. It is EU-hosted and GDPR-compliant with a DPA included. Setmore remains the better fit if your bookings really are one-to-one, if you need SMS reminders, or if you need a signed BAA for HIPAA — easybook.studio offers none of those.

Who should switch from Setmore — and who shouldn't?

We are not the best fit for every studio. Here is an honest take — so you don't talk yourself into a painful switch.

Switch if …

  • You have outgrown 1:1 appointments and now run group classes with capacity limits and waitlists.
  • You sell class passes, credit packs or recurring memberships rather than single sessions.
  • You run courses or terms where the same group books a block of sessions.
  • You are adding teachers and do not want the bill to rise with every staff calendar.
  • You want EU hosting, a GDPR DPA and VAT-compliant invoices as standard.

Stay on Setmore if …

  • Your bookings really are one-to-one — consultations, treatments, personal training — and always will be.
  • You are a solo practitioner comfortably inside the free plan's 200 appointments a month.
  • You need SMS reminders, which easybook.studio does not send — our reminders are email.
  • You need a signed BAA for HIPAA, which Setmore offers on Pro and easybook.studio does not.

Migrating from Setmore: what to expect

A realistic timeline for a typical switch — most studios go live in under two weeks.

  1. 1Day 1

Sign up & run in parallel

Free 30-day trial. Build your class schedule, passes and booking widget while Setmore keeps taking appointments — no cut-over date, no risk.

  2. 2Day 2–3

    Export your data from Setmore

Export your customer list and appointment history from the Setmore admin as CSV. Note which recurring appointments are really classes — those become course series rather than one-to-one slots.

  3. 3Day 4–5

    Assisted import

Send us the CSV exports and we handle the mapping onto easybook.studio, deduplicate customers by email, and set up your classes with the right capacity, waitlist and pass rules.

  4. 4Week 2

    Go live & close Setmore

Swap the Setmore booking widget on your site for the easybook widget, check your email templates, switch on Stripe-direct payments — then downgrade or cancel Setmore.

Common concerns about switching

The real reasons studios delay switching — and how easybook.studio answers each.

Setmore has a free plan. Why would I pay anything?

If you are a solo instructor booking 1:1 sessions and staying under 200 appointments a month, Setmore's free plan is genuinely hard to beat and we will not pretend otherwise. The free tier stops making sense when you start running group classes — a single weekly class with twelve people is twelve appointments, so a modest timetable clears 200 a month quickly — or when you need the Pro features, at which point you are paying per teacher. easybook.studio also has a free plan (up to 25 customers), and paid plans start at €2.50/month for the whole studio rather than per person.

We only have three teachers. Is per-user pricing really a problem?

At three teachers on Setmore Pro billed annually it is about $180 a year, which is not painful on its own. The difference is what happens next: every teacher you add raises the bill, and a cover teacher or a seasonal hire needs a calendar too. easybook.studio includes 10 team members on the Basic plan and 100 on Growing, so the price does not move as your teaching team grows or flexes. Figures as of September 2026 — check setmore.com/pricing for current rates.

What actually changes about how I take money?

easybook.studio connects Stripe directly — SEPA Direct Debit, card, Sofort, Apple and Google Pay — plus PayPal through your own PayPal Business account. Payouts land in your account with no platform markup from us: no booking fee, no commission, only the standard Stripe or PayPal fees. You can also sell class passes, credit packs and recurring memberships as native products, which is the part a general-purpose appointment scheduler is not built around.

Setmore is US-based — does that matter for a European studio?

It depends how much it matters to you. easybook.studio is built and hosted in the EU, with a GDPR Article 28 DPA included by default, VAT-compliant invoices under §14 UStG, and German as well as English support. Setmore is operated from the US by Full Creative. Plenty of European businesses use US tools happily; if EU hosting, a German-language DPA and local invoicing are on your checklist, that is a real difference rather than a marketing line.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Setmore cost, and how does easybook.studio compare?

As of September 2026, third-party sources list Setmore as free for up to 4 users and 200 appointments per month, with the Pro plan at $12 per user per month billed monthly, or $5 per user per month if you prepay annually; Team and Enterprise are quoted on request. Because it is priced per staff calendar, the bill grows with every teacher. easybook.studio is a flat rate from €2.50/month (early adopter, regularly €10) that includes 10 team members on Basic and 100 on Growing, so adding teachers does not change the price. Check setmore.com/pricing for current figures.

What is the real difference between Setmore and easybook.studio?

Category, not quality. Setmore is a general-purpose 1:1 appointment scheduler — one person books one slot — and it is well established at that. easybook.studio is built for class-based businesses: group classes with capacity limits, waitlists with auto-promotion, recurring course series and terms, class passes, credit packs and memberships. If your bookings are genuinely one-to-one, Setmore is a reasonable choice. If you are running a timetable of group classes, you are working against the grain of an appointment tool.

Can easybook.studio still handle one-to-one appointments?

Yes. Personal training, private lessons and 1:1 sessions work as single-capacity events, so you can run them alongside your group timetable in the same schedule and the same customer record. The difference is that group classes are the default rather than the workaround.

Does easybook.studio send SMS reminders like Setmore Pro?

No, and we would rather say so plainly. easybook.studio sends booking confirmations, reminders and waitlist notifications by email; there is no SMS channel. Setmore includes SMS reminders on its Pro plan. If SMS reminders are essential to how you run your day, that is a genuine point in Setmore's favour.

Can I move my customers and bookings over from Setmore?

Yes. Export your customer list and appointment history from the Setmore admin as CSV and send them to us; we handle the mapping onto easybook.studio, deduplicate customers by email and run a test import before you go live. The one thing worth planning is which of your recurring appointments are really group classes — those become course series with capacity and waitlists rather than repeated 1:1 slots.

Does easybook.studio charge per booking or take a commission?

No. easybook.studio is a flat monthly rate with unlimited bookings — no per-booking fee, no commission and no marketplace cut. The only payment costs are the standard Stripe fees, charged in EUR and going directly to Stripe, or your own PayPal Business rates if you accept PayPal.

Ready for pricing that does not grow with your team?

Switch to easybook.studio: flat rate from €2.50/month (early adopter, regular €10), Stripe direct, EU hosting and German support.
